Jack Finney's story the third level interweaves fantacy and reality  . the third level become  a medium of escaping from the unpleasent present .Charley wonders 1894 . the modern world is full of insecurity, worry, fear and war. The third level provides a safe route to escapism.

the narrator talk's to his Psychiatrist friend about the third level at grand central station . The  psychiatrist defines it as waking dream wish  fulfillment . he concludes that charly wants  to escape becaude he is unable to face  the hars  realities of the modern world . 

Charly stamp collection is a temparary  refused from the reality .his grand  father  did not need it as the things those days were nice and prety galeswburg Illinois  of 1894 is a wonderfull place Sam's letter  to Charley also discloses al these detail of that fantastic world.

Ans:- 

one night charley worked late at the office . he was in a hurry to get  to his apportment. so he decided to take  the subway from the grand central station ,  he ducked into on arched door way . and ther he got lost .it is quite easy to get lost tree. It is always pussing out new  corridors and stair case.  ,throught the years grand central has been on exit . a way of escape  form many people . charley walked down the steps to the second level. He turned left and kept on walking. he came out on the third level at the grand central station. It way a different old and romantic  world .they were  fewer tickrt windows .they were open flem  gase lights , he saw people wearing beards sideburns and fancy mustaches .then he caught a glimpse of an old locomotive  ..he also saw a 1894 issue of the world.

Q3  whar did the narratos stamp collecting pain out?

Ans:-

Every thing about the narrator  points to his scapist lendency . for example his stamp collecting hobby. It is nothing but a temporary didn't need any such thing. things were  pretty nice and peaceful in his days. perhapes the narrator is underpressor to escapr from the harsh world of relitied . he would like to escape to the good world of 1894.

Ans:-

When new stamps are issued. Stamp collection by some stamps. They use those stamp to mail envelopes to themselves on the very first  day of sale. The post mark proves the date. The envelope is called a first day cover. The envelope are never open, only blank paper is put in the envelope.
